From September 2018, Branfil will begin using Target Tracker (a new assessment system) to monitor our pupils' progress and identify next steps in their learning.

Target Tracker outlines the objectives that children need to cover over the course of each academic year in order to be on track and secure in their year group's curriculum.

The school will continue to use formative and summative assessments regularly in order to inform teaching. The assessment outcomes will relate to the government's year group standards. Some terminology and reporting will change.

We will keep this page updated as we release new documents and information for parents. We welcome feedback from all members of our community, particularly regarding this new approach to assessment, and this can be done through contacting the school office.

National Assessments

The following national assessments take place in the summer term. Parents will be invited to information meetings with teachers to give additional information about these assessments.

Year 1: Phonics Check (retested in Year 2 for pupils who do not pass)

KS1 (Y2): SATs - reading/GPS/maths tests. Teacher assessments for reading, writing, maths and science.

KS2 (Y6): SATs - reading/GPS/maths tests. Teacher assessments for reading, writing, maths and science.
